I have a really big wide screen HDTV but the downside of it is that when everyone’s in bed I’d like to turn the tv all the way down and read the captions. I can’t get the captions to work on this HDTV I’ve tried all different settings(C1, C2, T1, T2) none work.

The other regular tvs, CC works on those but not on HDTV why is that?

What do I buy to connect my MacBook pro to this TV? The TV instructions say that I should not connect my computer to the tv via a HDMI component.
